A Blue Fish Bonanza

A Beautiful Sight…

The day started off as any other, us cruising around the harbor looking for birds. We checked out, Fore River, Quincy Bay, Airport, The Poop Factory and then headed home via Hull Gut.

As we neared Georges we saw a line of boats with oranges flags, as we got closer we saw they were each guarding a swimmer. We slowly picked our way around them and continued on our way.

As we approached Hull Gut, we noticed a number of boats 5-6 at this time grouped together in front of the gut. Getting closer we saw a number of birds and realized something fun was going on.

Hooked up first cast of my small silver RonZ. Given the aggressiveness of the take and the fight realized I had a blue fish on. Only as we were about to pull the fish in did it finally make its way through my mono. Mike and I hurriedly tried to switch over to a wire tipet. He beat me to the next bite, however somehow on getting it to the boat he broke his rod tip off so ended fishing the rest of the day with a 4 foot spin rod.
