Nice fish caught in the morning on a pink RonZ in the blitz between north / south main channels, aka Bobs Bass Triangle!

Took Jono, Jason, Greg and Ethan out. Picked up half dozen macks at Nahant and then drifted them in Boston main channel. Hooked 3 fish, only one was keeper size.
Head out at 6am and back at dock by 10:30.
High tide, choppy water, a good amount of birds working off day mark near sunken ledge.
Perfect Friday night for those not stuck on ferry watching the fun by the airport.
Big flock of birds working off of the airport, just in main channel.
Jigged up a single Mack by green outside Hull.
Heard there was some action near Bumpkin. Also were I saw some action Wednesday night.
The crew is planning to head out into the harbor tomorrow morning and see if we can catch some dinner.
Bird action off other side of channel from sunken ledge, towards Quincy. Friend Chis, caught three already by the time I came by on the ferry.

On evening ferry home saw a number of birds off of Grape, sea herring?

Days are getting longer and the nights warmer. Won’t be long till we’re all out on the water…
Florence And The Machine- What The Water Gave Me Lyrics
Time it took us To where the water was That’s what the water gave me And time goes quicker Between the two of us Oh, my love, don’t forsake me Take what the water gave me
Lay me down Let the only sound Be the overflow Pockets full of stones
Lay me down Let the only sound Be the overflow
And oh poor Atlas The world’s a beast of a burden You’ve been holding on a long time And all this longing And the ships are left to rust That’s what the water gave us
So lay me down Let the only sound Be the overflow Pockets full of stones Lay me down Let the only sound Be the overflow
‘Cause they took your loved ones But returned them in exchange for you But would you have it any other way? Would you have it any other way? You couldn’t have it any other way ‘Cause she’s a crueler mistress And her temper cannot be tamed. But oh, my love, don’t forget me When I let the water take me
Lay me down Let the only sound Be the over flow Pockets full of stones
Lay me down Let the only sound Be the overflow

Events of the day
Nice run out to fishing grounds, good and calm. I’m voted 1st up and fitted for the chair. We see boats hooking fish left and right of us but nothing looks our way. Then all of a sudden a double header with me hooking into a solid 1st fish and us handing over the rod with the other fish to another boat, while I’m fighting my fish. I get the fish under control and bring him in in short order. Estimated size 500lbs.
We take a bit of a break and then Dad hooks up with and catches a solid 4 digit fish in about 30 mins. Some more time goes by chumming and pull hooks on another double.
Getting near the end of the day and we start to worry our third won’t get a fish that day. All of a sudden the mate chumming says there’s a big fish right there. Sure enough we throw chum in and watch it go down, when all of a sudden it’s not there any more. We throw more chum and woosh, huge fish makes a big boil just below the surface and we know we have another grander feeding a few feet below the boat. We keep giving it chum and bait hoping it will take the bait, but it doesn’t seem to want to. We try live macks, dead macks, herring, macks hooked in the tail, but it always takes the chum, not the bait. Till it finally makes a mistake and takes the bait. Bryan is connected to biggest fish of the day which is released Bimini style after the wire man touches leader. Pretty good first day all around..
My Fish:
On Wednesday night saw a guy bring in two nice keeper striped bass (one close to 40 inches) at Hingham YC. He had snagged and live lined porgies near Bumpkin island.
Thursday afternoon, I went out but was unable to see or snag a porgie.
This morning I went out and the guy was out there and was nice enough to show we how to spot the fish. First one I snagged something took it soon after and I missed setting the hook. The second one didn’t get taken but we’d drifted pretty quickly off the pod, so I took to Hull gut, where I either hooked the biggest fish yet, or snagged him on the bottom. I’m thinking the later is probably more likely.
Back at dock I threw out my trusty pink RonZ for shits and giggles, and wouldn’t you know it on 3rd cast hooked a nice fish just below legal size. The crazy thing was there was a fish that came up to see what was going on that was even bigger… Guess I could have saved myself some gas!
Good amount of boats huddled up between airport and deer island this morning.
Rumors of 45lb fish caught in Boston Harbor on pogy’s…
Had an early 5:30am start with Darren. Left through Hull gut, didn’t see much action.
saw some bait on the surface outside Hull gut. Did quick tour of outer islands, met up with Chris and after not seeing much action headed back to where we saw bait. On the way Darren spotted a lot of bird action in the Hull Gut.
Small pods of birds and fish pop’d up and down, they were feeding on Macs (we know this as one hit and was caught by Darren). After running and drifting through these pods we ended up with two good sized fish and one very small schoolie.
A good morning all around…
So after such a great day of fishing on Friday the 13th, I was expecting even better things the next day on Saturday. I was going out with Chris, we had a faster, bigger boat, we knew where the bite was the day before and we had more time.
End results didn’t live up to expectations, we caught some macks, which Chris did a great job live lining at Hull Gut turning one into a nice 24 inch fish and I missed another in the same area. That was about it
Just show’s yesterday’s results are no indication of future results.

Left dock little after 6am by myself. Ran between Grape and Slate to Hull Gut. Tried a few casts off of rocks in the gut, nothing.
Then saw a lot of birds and boats in the triangle between between Georges, Rainsford and Peddocks, so moved over there to with them. Caught a small schooly on 3rd cast (around 6:20am). While fighting him (small so definitively a him…), got boat tangled in lobster pot line. Once I’d released fish and untangled myself from the lobster, I looked around and all the boats had gone. Saw a boat heading out towards Little Brewster / Point Allerton, used the binoculars to see what was going on and saw a number of boats huddled up. I headed that way to see what was up.
As I approached the boats (near Harding Ledge) at 6:59am, I could see a mass of birds (photo above). Went WOT and got in front of birds and a little upwind. 4th or 5th cast (using my trusty RonZ in bubblegum), I hooked up with a good fish that took a ton of line, only to have him pull hooks. Checked out the lure and it had gotten pretty beaten up between this fish and the earlier one today and others a few weeks back. Switched out the bubblegum for a silver color. Few more cast hooked into a nice fish and ended up with the close to keeper sized fish below (was carefully revived and released very quickly after photo at 7:09am, showing no ill effects).
Few more casts, broke the leader on an another nice fish. Then a quick run to catch up with the pack and caught and released another nice fish about the same size.
Quick run back to dock and home in time to start work.
